Trust me, I know how hard “DIETING” can be!  Been there, Done that!!!!  Especially a Wedding Diet.

Revolving your day around food, what time you’re going to eat, what you’re going to eat, where, counting calories, starving, depriving yourself, Etc…….

This is why I have dedicated myself to creating HEALTHY RECIPES for meals that are quick, easy to make, and will help you lose weight and get fit.

The Most effective Wedding Diet is comprised of:

Eating a Buff Bride Meal every 3-4 hours. A Buff Bride Meal includes: A lean protein, a Starchy Carb, and a fibrous veggie. Cut back on fat, sugar, and sodium. Drink at least ½ your body weight in ounces.

I have been “dieting” which I really mean “eating healthy” for over 15 years, and the only way I have been able to stick to it and get RESULTS is by ENJOYING WHAT I EAT!!!

Isn’t that something??? Who would have thought that you can enjoy “dieting”, but I do! And I want you too also!!!!

Now I want to give you these Healthy Recipes.

Why???? Because this is the trick! This is the way to succeed!! The way to be able to lose weight and get fit by sticking to the “wedding diet” but not feeling DEPRIVED!

These recipes taste great, are easy to make, and are so healthy that they will help you lose weight and get fit so that you look amazing in your wedding gown. Best of all, you will not feel as if you are on a diet.

Remember a Buff Bride Meal should include:

Lean Protein Healthy Carbs Fibrous Vegetables

Wedding Diet Healthy Recipe #1:  Paprika Turkey Meatballs(4-6 Servings)

Ingredients:
2 onions, finely chopped
2 ribs celery, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
One 14-ounce can diced tomatoes
One 12-ounce jar roasted peppers, drained
2 tbsp paprika
2 egg whites
¼ cup homemade Ezekiel Bread Crumbs or Whole-Wheat
1 package extra lean ground turkey breast
Salt and pepper to taste
Low sodium chicken stock for cooking.

Instructions:

In a large skillet add chicken stock to medium heat. Add the onions, celery and garlic and sauté until cooked. Transfer a little over a cup of the onion mixture to a large bowl and let cool.

In a food processor, puree the tomatoes and roasted peppers. Add the puree to the skillet and bring to a boil over medium heat. Stir in the paprika. Add the mixture to a big pot and cook.

Whisk the breadcrumbs, egg whites into the remaining onion mixture. Mix in the turkey and form meatballs. Add the meatballs to the pot and cook until done.

Wedding Diet Healthy Recipe #2:  Mashed Sweet Potato(4 Servings)

Ingredients:

3 sweet potatoes
½ cup starchy water
½ cup fat-free cottage cheese
½ cup fat-free shredded cheddar cheese
Cinnamon to taste-optional

Instructions: Peel and boil the sweet potatoes until soft.Cut the potatoes in chunks and place them in a food processor, add the starchy water, the cottage cheese and the shredded cheddar cheese and blend until smooth and creamy.

Place chicken breast in baking dish, salt and pepper to taste. Lightly spray with olive oil. Bake for 25 minutes at 400 degrees. Remove from oven and chop chicken breast. Place in a large mixing bowl. Add 1-can of enchilada sauce and mix well. Add 1/4 cup of cheddar cheese, mix well. Heat corn tortillas in microwave for 45 seconds to soften tortilla. Pour 1-can enchilada sauce into a shallow plate. Dip tortilla in enchilada sauce, place tortilla on flat surface and spoon chicken mixture into tortilla, roll from one end and place in baking dish. Top enchiladas, with remainder of cheddar cheeses. Bake 5-10 minutes till cheese is melted. Serve 2-tortillas per person, with a dollop of sour cream and lime wedge. Names can be deceiving. A recipe’s title is not always the best indication of how healthy it actually is. The only way to be sure a recipe is nutritious is to look carefully at all the ingredients and how it is cooked.

But what about some of your tried and true old standbys? Looking at some of your family’s favourites you may find that they are not as healthy as they could be. Carol Dombrow, Heart and Stroke Foundation registered dietitian suggests that instead of giving them up altogether, there are many ways you can make a favourite recipe healthier. “Try cutting down on some of the less healthy ingredients like fat, sugar and salt. At the same time increase positive nutrients like fibre. You can do this all without losing any flavour.” Follow these other tips from Carol for healthy recipes:

What to look for in a healthy recipe:

• Fresh ingredients

• Lots of vegetables and fruit

• Whole grains

• Little or no added fat or salt

• Limited added sugar

• Cooking methods such as grilling, baking, poaching and steaming, as opposed to frying

How to make your own recipes healthier:

• Substitute healthier fats and lower sodium ingredients, for example soft margarine instead of butter, and sodium reduced broth.

• Load up on the vegetables.

• Use whole grains and whole wheat flour.

• Use fresh or dried herbs, spices, flavoured vinegars or lemon juice instead of salt to enhance flavour.

• For baked goods, cut down on the fat content and substitute part of the fat with a 100% fruit sauce.

• Add lentils or cooked beans to soups, salads and casseroles.

• Add dried fruits, unsalted nuts or seeds to yogurt, salad and muffins.

• Use lean cuts of meat and remove the skin from poultry.
